Sacred Waste
During harvest time, three of the thirty chief men came down to David at the cave of Adullam, while a band of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim.
At the time David was in the stronghold, and the Philistines garrison was at Bethlehem. David longed for water and said, "Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem!" So the three mighty men broke through the Philistine lines, drew water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem and carried it back to David,
But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out before the Lord. "Far be it from me, O Lord, to do this!" he said. "Is it not the blood of men who went at the risk of their lives?"
And David would not drink it.
2 Samuel 23:13-17
ometimes the journey is more sacred then the end result. But, oh how I still get so caught up in worrying about how things will turn out...
Will I be successful in my ventures?
Will my children walk with God?
If I just pray hard enough...!
If only I achieve this, I will have made it! And yet...
I think God is far more interested in the process then the end result and our job is to be faithful in what God has called us to and leave the end result to Him. Anything less is controlling.
If we can do that, it's NEVER a failure....even if life doesn't turn out like we expected. Even if our kids make different choices then we want them to or our prayers feel unanswered or we don't reach the goal we set for ourselves. If we've been obedient (as best we can) on this pilgrim's journey, what we see as a waste, is, in God's eyes, Sacred.
A Sacred Waste.

NEW CD - "Songs Of The Journey - The Story Goes On"
This last fall, I went back into the studio to record my seventh full length project. There were alot of "firsts" with this project... a studio I'd never worked in before here in Montreal, co-producing with my son Jordan Klassen, using amazing new musicians and stylistically, a little more new folk and a little less ambient Celtic. And what a GREAT experience it was!! I discovered a whole new world of musicians here in Montreal and worked in a awesome studio called Mixdown Productions with Chris Miles. If your a musician looking for a great producer, tech, drummer, etc., I recommend Chris and his studio highly! It was so good for me to stretch out of the paradigm of music that has become "comfortable" for me. I'm not saying I've changed my direction musically, but this project is more....intimate and acoustic. There's very little ambient pads and more of the real deal....Cello, Stand Up Bass, Violin, Whistles and Percussion and these lend themselves beautifully to the new tunes. And finally, working with my very talented son Jordan was a highlight. He not only contributed as producer, but wrote 3 of the tunes and played many of the instruments. It's extraordinary to be able to build memories like this with your kids and with the exception of a few facebook mishaps (NEVER leave yourself signed in to facebook with your kids around!!), we got along famously!!
Especially for you...
