hope you haven't been too cold and shivery this winter season. Of course, you may be living in Australia and than you'd be sweltering right now!
I've had a rather quiet January and February, except for 3 main events. December 31st we had a Citywide Praise and Prayer Rally in Abbotsford and what an amazing time of seeing God break down dividing walls and bring our church community into unity! I had the awesome honor of being asked to lead worship at this event, and it was incredible. People came with such an anticipation to worship that they jumped up on the first note, ready to give God the praise and adoration He alone deserves. We had communion together (it was served by the pastors of our city) and when the clock struck midnight, we raised our voices and shouted our praises to God. We ended with the song Break Dividing Walls by David Ruis, and I watched as pastors sang this song together, with their arms locked together. Praise God for what He is doing in bringing unity to our nation!!
In January, I flew out to Edmonton and Calgary to open for the group 4Him. They are great guys and truly have a desire to see people come to know Christ. There was a definite call to salvation during their concert, and many responded. I got to work with a full band and that was SO much fun! The band's name was Razor's Edge and they often help out musicians who come to town. I also got to meet Deborah Andrews from Blue Sky Promotion and she is truly a Canadian national treasure! She has such a heart and passion for Canadian Christian musicians and I'm so grateful that I got a chance to work with her.
Last weekend I was in Carmen Manitoba as well as Brandon and Winnipeg. I had 6 venues in 4 days and believe me, it was pretty intense! And was it COLD!!! I mean, -20 and I'm from the westcoast where the tulips are coming up! YIKES! Actually, I had a great time and so enjoyed the people of Manitoba. There is a great sense of hospitality over that province and every time I go there, I feel so welcomed. On Monday the 14th, I was on I'ts A New Day, which is a television program based out of Winnipeg. I had a great time with Willard Thiessen as he interviewed me and it was interesting to hear his perspective on different subjects. They have applied for a TV station here in B.C., and I pray that those doors will open for them because I believe they have an ear for what's happening in our nation.
I'd like to close with a quote from a book my family and I have been reading for devotions. It's the book "Jesus Freaks" and it's different stories of martyrs from across the ages. Our kids have really gotten into reading this after supper and to be honest, so have I. It's hard not to choke up when you read about the incredible commitment that these men and women have had to Christ, even unto death. For me, as someone who loves to pray and intercede, I realize how immature I am when I read these stories of faith and perseverence.
A minister I had heard of in Romania had been horribly beaten and was thrown back into the cell with the other prisoners. He was half-dead, with blood streaming from his face and body. As some of the prisoners washed him, others cursed the Communists. Groaning, the minister said, "please, don't curse them! Keep silent! I wish to pray for them."
