September 1999 - Hi Everybody!

Ihope you had a GREAT summer and for those of you who have kids, I hope that letting them go back to school wasn't too hard on you!

My family and I had a relaxing do nothing summer and it was wonderful! We on the westcoast didn't have exactly the best summer weather wise (in fact, it feels like we're having summer now with lots of muggy, hot days) but it was a breath of fresh air to spend time with my stir crazy children! I often wonder how moms did it in the days of 6 or 8 siblings going at each other and nothing but farmwork to keep them busy because the nearest friend was 10 miles away(with the wagon) and no T.V or computer to distract them from time to time. Actually, we've had some rather stimulating conversations around the table this summer and as the kids get older, they have some interesting perspectives on life and a great sense of humour.

Because I wasn't busy in August, I had MUCH opportunity to write and the Lord has been faithful to give me new songs from His word as well as life in general. There's this great scripture in Psalms 84 that I read out of Eugene Peterson's translation "The Message" that has inspired me for months and I finally got it down on paper. It talks about our lives being a road that God travels and at the end of it, Zion! I encourage you to pick up "The Message" and read it for yourself.

I've just come back from Edmonton this last weekend where I did 3 concerts in the area. The weekend before I was in Killarney, Manitoba which is a small farming community that I'd never heard of. In both communities I had a wonderful time of fellowship with many people. This time of year is so beautiful across Canada because of harvest and the trees turning colour. I stand in awe of the Father God who creates such diversity in the seasons and all for our enjoyment! WOW!

Have a great fall everybody and may you be God travelled!

TRAVEL WITH ME

MAY MY LIFE, BE THE ROAD YOU TRAVEL
MAY MY HEART, KNOW THE PATTERN OF YOUR FEET
MAY MY SPIRIT, DRAW IT'S LIGHT FROM YOUR CANDLE
TRAVEL WITH ME, TRAVEL WITH ME, TRAVEL WITH ME.

MY HISTORY, IS NOTHING BUT A STORY
WRITTEN BY YOUR FINGER, O GOD ALMIGHTY
SO PLACE YOUR FINGERPRINT UPON ME HOLY SPIRIT
TRAVEL WITH ME, TRAVEL WITH ME, TRAVEL WITH ME.

I MAY STAND STILL, BUT YOUR LOVE WILL PUSH ME ONWARD
I MAY FALL DOWN, BUT YOUR LOVE WILL PICK ME UP
THEN I WILL CLIMB HIGHER TO SEE THE GREAT HORIZON
SO TRAVEL WITH ME, TRAVEL WITH ME, JESUS, TRAVEL WITH ME.
